this may sound weird, but i really need a generator for my trip to the mountains (see collaboration). Anyways, if you have one chat with me and we'll make a deal. I don't have anything to trade for it, but i may be able to buy it off you or borrow it if at all possible.

The cost of shipping a generator would be enormous.

for what you're going to be doing (running high end equipment like mixers, turntables, CD players) you need to get a generator manufactured by HONDA.
I won't get into any details, but generally smaller generators are designed to run lights, stereos for maybe a few hours, power tools... emergencies, power tools, and "regular" camping needs... not running delicate equipment in need of grounding for hours and hours...
it has to do with needing an eliptical power curve... but I really have no idea what that means... =)
so BLAH! if you don't get a HONDA generator you have the chance of ruining whatever gear is used...
NOW, that aside, AA Rentals (it's in the phone book=) has the cheapest Honda generators you'll find...
expect to spend a bit of money on the generator rental, and don't forget a few gallons of gasoline...
also figure out everything you plan on hooking up to the generator and add up all the watts... with a small sound system, TT's, CDJ's, mixer, some funky lights, and some random things you'll prolly have around 2,000watts (continuous) / keep in mind alot of things, especially speaker amps playing tekno will go above their continuous and peak their wattage...
so get a 3-4,000 watt generator...
or whatever your watts end up being x2.
I'm starting to ramble...
btw, I have a small sound system and TT's if you'd like to rent them...
another thing to keep in mind... if you plan on playing your music loudly and/or in a half way public area make sure it's okay with the authorities... otherwise, make sure you're WAY out in the boonies...
