Open Turntable Night @ The Cool School

The Cool School is proud to sponser another Open Turntable Night. This night is for all local DJs and a great way to promote yourself and be heard. This night is open to all genres of electronica and local DJs are strongly encouraged to particpate. You must bring your own records, headphones and NEEDLES. We cannot guarantee that all DJs that show up will get a time slot as space is limited. This is an excellent way to network with other local DJs and promoters. No one is allowed to register early! You have to show up and stay at the club to take a timeslot. Hope to see you all there, I'm looking forward to having people coming out and rocking the decks.

Okay folks, we have changed the format of the open deck night. DJs must show up no later than 9:00pm if they want to play, time slots will no longer be reserved. All DJs present at 9:00pm will draw a slip from a hat containing the different time slots. Once you have a time slot, you must stay at the club until your time slot, if you leave, you forfeit your slot and it will be given to the next DJ. Any DJs who do not get a slot can be put on "stand-by" for any slots that may be forfeit. I tried to make this a friendly oppurtunity for a bunch of people in the scene to get together and share ideas and exchange info. but, too many egotistical crybabies have made this once "labor of love" a serious pain in the ass. I hate to be strict with something that was designed to be fun but, so be it.

I've got a rehearsal 7-10, so no way I can get there by 9... I'd love to play, but man maybe take demos or something so DJs with actual schedules can play without feeling obligated to buy a latte or some shit... seriously nothing personal but how will I ever get heard with this shit... and plus what sort of time slot could I get even if I got there on time? 10 minutes? 30 at most? I need more info b4 I'd bother altering my schedule for your ass. (no offense)

Yes, I really don't mind if DJs want to switch time slots with each other once the draw is complete. By the way, it's not as if we OWE anyone the right to play. We have set this up using the most fair system we could devise. If you can't work it out than I guess you just don't want to play that badly. Also, most weeks, nobody wants to play the really late time slots so it is very likely that if someone were not able to make it at 8:30 or 9:00, you could still just show up late and get to play at 4:00 or 5:00am. We provided this as a free service and as you can see from the posts on this thread, some people feel like we OWE it to them. I would like to thank all the DJs (over 100 of you) that have shared your talents with us on the open deck nights, I hope you will continue to support this cause.
