I've got a Numark DM3002X and not so happy with it... I get bleed from the cue channel while recording a mix, and one of the three channels is muffled. Is anyone here thinking of selling their mixer anytime soon, or can recommend a good mixer for $300 or less? I'm tight on cash at the moment...

Well, what are you looking to do with DJing? Scratch? Mix? More than two things mixing together at once?
Start there and I'll share what I know for ya. There's a whole bunch of different steals on the market right now, many of which would more than suit your purpose I'm sure.
The current "best steal on the market" is the tascam XS-8 over at www.djtronix.com . $289, and it's a pimp mixer. Not your typical layout, but it's quite functionable. It's also made by the geniuses over at ECLER for Tascam, so it's actually a very high quality mixer. It even has XLR outputs, so it's more than you could probably even need. It's also design mostly for scratch purposes, however you'll be quite happy on it mixing as well. If your only mixing two things together at once you'll also find yourself VERY happy, cause you won't have a bunch of worthless unused channels cluttering your way.

Well, I just mix really... no interest in scratching. Would like an effects send/return if possible, but would sacrafice that for a good quality mixer. I have a Kaoss pad.
I've been spinning for about 2 years now, and previously had a Gemini 626. I have a Numark now, and it's ok...

See above statement about tascam xs-8 than. It has an FX loop as well, which is pre fader... so you can even cut your FX, which is pimp in my book.

Wow, that's gotta be the ugliest mixer I ever did see! I'm guessing it performs well though? Don't Tascam mixers completely cut on the EQ if you go all the way low? Sounds like a cool feature to have. So why's everyone so down on Stanton mixers out of curiosity?

Well stantons new mixers realy aren't that bad. Anything not released in the past six months though is guaranteed shit, and their lower priced gear is absolute crap.
That XS-8 mixer isn't the most beautiful thing to look at, but trust me once you get used to the layout and start mixing and/or cutting on that you'll be stoked you bought it. The overall quality of the mixer is hard to one up, espescially for $300! It really is the current steal on the market.

The behringer DJX700 has been making a lot of noise. This is what I consider to be the other steal on the market. For the $200 range nothing can beat it. The Tascam

Here's a stanton SMX series mixer for $299 with an FX loop. My friends other SMX series mixer sounds pretty good, but lord knows... it is stanton. Try hitting a guitar center and seeing if they can cut you a good deal on it.

Hm, that Behringer sounds nice too with the built-in effects. But you didn't say about the EQ... is it Tascam that actually cuts the level out if you turn the levels down on a high/mid/low EQ knob? Which of the two would you recommend?

I'd say tascam XS-8 just cause it's a better layout that is much more scratch oriented. Better sound quality, better components, it's just better all around. Thats my take on it though, and I'm wrong daily. My friend just recently purchased one, and when it arrives I'll play on it some and give you feedback.
I've used the tascam HAK360 which is the exact same mixer as this though, with better components, and I must say it is an excellent mixer.

Hey,
Check out Trade Up music on Division. They have a couple of very nice mixers around the $300 range. They're used, but they're also very affordable for top of the line mixers.
This is also a great place to go to get drum machines/samplers if you wanna start producing or makling tracks.

Guitar center in clackamas jsut ordered a bunch of those tascam XS-8's and I think you can get them for like $150. For $150 you can't go wrong on that mixer. It's a STEAL!
