I am looking for a reliable effects prosesor. I am willing to spend the money but am open to anything. I have worked before with the Pioneer EFX-500 (Picked it up half dead from a friend for a $100) but it past away a good while ago. Now I am stuck between going out and getting a brand new EFX-500 OR getting the Korg KP-2 Kaoss Pad which I have never touched. Which is better? Also I have an Empath, should that make one processor better than the other>?>

I've got a Kaos Pad...it's got neat effects but, unlike the newer version, it doesn't have a bpm counter. So, if I decided to use a delay, I have to beat match the delay to the song playing. I originally wanted the Pioneer, but couldn't afford it...then the dumb salesman talked me into buying the Korg. Personally, if I could go back, I wouldn't have spent the money because I rarely use effects anyway. But I think the Pioneer would be my choice if I were in your shoes.

defintly go for the kaoss pad 2--the first one sucks.

The second one is awesome. Beat counter--worth the cash check it out.

kaoss 2 rocks, but they are somewhat gimmicky... the Pioneer is way to go for standard effects like flanging, delay etc.... I think Stanton has a box out and dont forget about teh Cycloops loop tool!

I just got the new KP-2 and it is pretty dope. It's got a lot of neat things. I'm not too familar with other effects processors but I would go with the KP-2 just cuz it's not just an effects processor but a sampler/controller as well. Just sayin' my $.02.

What about those Alesis products? Like the Air FX... I just toyed with one a few days ago, and it's pretty fun! Has an optical sensor, and depending where you move your hand above it, makes different adjustments to the effect preset. I think it had 50 or so for $100.
