" around 1000 pounds" in UK; that would make it $1600, but i cant imagine that holding for long. I suspect it will hit $1100 ish to put it up against Pioneer 600s and teh Empath :)

hah
put it up against a DJM 600, i think not
that'd be like entering a soapbox race with an indi car
capare to the empath is a little more like it
sorry i just hate those fucking pioneer peices of shit, i know what your saying with the pricing stratigies though.
I really do hope it comes down fast though.

Man, that AH mixer is cute. All it needs are some unicorn stickers and it is ready for Ibiza.

I *agree*.

I bought one because I saw it used so much at clubs and parties that I thought it would be a good mixer to learn on.. It's definetly not worth the money.

Looks like a pretty sick mixer, though not quite worth $1600...

well it could be worth that much green, just depends on to who.. anything to me over 600 bucks is way to far.. but the rain tm56 that sounds like its worth it to an extent...

I'll stick with my Rane. I don't need the efx and midi triggers right now.

Its definetly not a Rane.....! Nope not a Rane = Keep Shopping! And the 600 is over rated!

I don't understand why people keep comparing this A&H to a Rane...?

Apples & Oranges...

Agreed, this mixer as well as each rane have specific features that make them more or less usefull to each DJ. However, the comparison is and should be made for the fact that these two companies are the industry leaders in quality DJ mixers. Now I'm deffinately a rane fan, it's all i've owned for the last 6 years and the empath is one of the best mixers i've ever had the pleasure of using, but so are the allen & Heaths that i've played on. Both provide exceptional sound quality and durrability, along with proper enjinering allowing for full use of all features (unlike the DJM600 where it is almost impossible to set up to use all of the +12db headroom without redlining). Simply put both companies put out exceptional products and therefore should be compared by an individual looking for a new upperclass mixer. My only way to go with rane would be the empath (possibly the mp44 but a little to expensive for the features involved). Iwould chose this AH mixer over the empath, however, simply because it provides me with more usefull features. What i'd really like to do though is sit down and compare the two companies rotary club mixers.
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm......Knobs

Yeah, I can understand comparing competing rotary mixers. In that case, both mixers have a reasonably similar intended use, and are probably in a similar price range. To me, A&H has always leaned more towards the production side of things, where as Rane has always learned more towards the DJ side, be it scratch or club mixers. Also, the empath, arguably Rane's best non-rotary product at the moment, is a fantastic mixer, but it only has three phono inputs. This A&H has four phono inputs. I mean...sure, compare the quality of the mixers all day long, because it's definitely important to know what's inside these expensive pieces of machinery...but let's be realistic with our comparisons.

And while we're on the topic...I really want the 3-channel Xone:32. Hell, I really want this mixer, but I can actually afford to own the 32.

Well i'd deffinately agree. Rane has been making DJ mioxers for a long while where A&H is a more recent entry to the markett. However by thier own statement A&H is making the attempt to have that production quality while catering to the DJ. I personally think that they do an excellent job, and that their mixers, as far as dj functionality, blow most out of the water. I guess i would just say that if shoping right now i'd have to compare this with the empath because they'd really be the only two under consideration. That xone 32 is a nice one, the gains being on the back panel drives me nuts though.

Are there any pics of the rotary option that's available for this mixer?

The gains should be on the back panel! That's god's way of telling you that you shouldn't be mixing with them!! ;)

God would never give me less control over my mix.

The more options i have in making the sounds i'm putting out come out proper, the better. Tracks are pressed at different levels and will often not be as loud once they are worn. beside actually mixing with them the gains are essential for compensating for the differences in levels. Well at least i should say i'd rather have my gains be adjusted than have one of my line levels all jacked up over the other.

Yeah, I was just fucking with you. Some people prefer to work the gain and some people compensate with the level sliders. Depending on the mixer, I sometimes use the gains to balance the output levels before the mix, so it's all good.

well no dis intended but to be honest it looks like pioneer adding more gimmicks and probably not improving quality much. Ihope it works bomb for you though. I do like the concept of adjustable fader tension though, cool idea.
