I'm going to sell my djm 600 for either the pioneer 707/909 or the Rane TTM 56, because honestly the 600 doesn't have nearly a tight enough cut. Which one would you all suggest?

I haven't had the opportunity to play on the new pioneers but they do have some dope features. The adjustable crossfader stiffness on each side is intriguing for example.
The rane though, I played hip hop and jungle on at a house party and it was straight rad. Awesome sound quality, beautiful upfaders and crossfader, tight switches, grippy knobs. You definitely won't hate it if you get one and 2 channels is all you need!
Just my thoughts... good luck.

The Rane will last longer. It will sound better. When buying a scratch mixer, go for the most rock solid mixer you can. Looking at what you are comparing there, buy the Rane.
I had a Vestax 07 for a while, it was solid, then I tried the Rane and was very impressed. If I was to buy a scratch mixer, it would be the Rane. When I grew tired of my 07 I decided to buy a mixer that could handle scratching; it was good for more than 2 audio sources, the Rane Empath. I would def recommend the Empath if you do not primarily need your mixer for scratching, but you can still use it to cut-it-up when you want to. The TTM56 has a much cleaner face and is better for the turntablist.

Craze's vestax broke on him when he brought it up to alaska last month and the promoters took him to a gear shop and he picked up the 909. That thing fucking rocks and he fell in love with that mixer.
I would get a 909!
Craze sez so :P

Sweet... but, just because Craze liked playing on it when it was brand new doesn't really mean that it's a durable mixer. ;)

Vestax's new 07 has Knobs...
However, I would just like to argue the point, how many knobs can you adjust at once, with one hand? How many knobs can you adjust at once with a full range of specture (aka all the way on to off if nescessary).
The 07's fader knobs take the cake in my book. Now if only they were a bit more accurate...

I love my TTM56. Its got all you need by way of sound quality and durability. If you want efx, go buy the pioneer. Just remember, its still just a Pioneer:eek:

Werd to the sliders vs. knobs. If you are cutting, the sliders are the way to go. You can adjust multiple bands with one hand and they cut/pump the freq. quickly on the fly. You just can't pull off the same tricks with knobs. The oly problem is pulling off mixes that require smoother adjustments as the accuracy of the 07 cuts leaves much to be desired.
{ My take on scratch mixers }
If you strictly want to cut it up: Vestax PMC-07
If you want to cut and blend/need control of the EQ: Rane TTM-56
If you want to mostly blend: Don't buy a 2 channel scratch mixer! But if you do, go with the Rane TTM-56
If you want EFX and scratching and blending: Rane Empath with an outboard EFX box (i haven't tried any of the Vestax mixers with EFX loops) This would give you a third channel as well.
Be careful, if you are practicing and pushing yourself you may find that you have outgrown a 2 channel mixer within a few years.
Owns- you can get a full cut from the Empath's EQ knobs, and there is an on/off switch for the EQ. By setting the knobs and using the switch to pump in and pull out sounds you can get a very similar experience to the 07's ability to fully cut multiple channels at once. However it still isn't the exact same feeling as having the sliders.

The new pioneer also has the on/off eq switch, also with the knobs you can virtually kill each range without affecting the others, I love this feature. From what I'm hearing, majority says the rain is # one for some reason I can't pull myself away from wanting the new one.

Yup. The insides froze on the plane, and they didn't let it warm up and dry off slowly enough. Condensation killed it!
Stupid winter! Destroying mixers and shit.

This is just another DJ company with shitty market research, and a Bad marketing scheme. No scratch DJ will be buying these mixers. The 07 and even the ttm56 are cheaper, last longer, and have the reputation of durability and quality. We all know pioneers reputation.
I bet this will got he same way as the tascam XS-8 and 4 mixers. Take the cover of the mixer off and you'll discover it's an ecler hak 360 in a tascam shell! Ecler makes some of the best selling mixers in europe, and It's one of the dopest scratch mixers out there! However, Poor marketing lead to the xs-8 price having to be cut dramtically to even move units. These mixers would up havine to be sold for $150!
So even if pioneer DID make a good mixer, they're reputation sucks in their target market, which is already quite saturated with second rate products. They also have little to no marketing in the DJ community for this mixers, I've yet to hear of pro-sponorship or showcases for these mixers.
I predict failure, but I'm wrong daily.

I myself just got a rane ttm56 and i have to say its the shit! The faders are so nice, it takes a bit getting used to.. im still trying ;)
this thread is funny b/c i was contemplating the same thing. i went from a vestax funkmaster flex series , to a gemini scratch master, to a 19in ghetto numark, to a pioneer djm500, to a rane mp44, now to the ttm56..
After many mixers tried and tested I have to say rane is the company for me. Their built rock solid and the sound quality is exceptional..
Go wth the rane man.
