Besides, everyone started at some point. What's the big difference between stupid drugged-up kids in 98 and stupid drugged-up kids in 2004, besides silly little details like style and (*sobcrywheeze*) economic outlook?

Also, many of those who started raving in 98-2000 were influenced in large part because teevee said raving was cool and edgy and dangerous. Now it's no longer cool or edgy (though still defiantly dangerous), but all in all the zietgiest is gone and most of those 98-2000 people have found something better to do, leaving behind only the rare diehards like myself who are very bad at trends. People starting to rave now, however, are coming into the game when it's unpopular and will therefore be much more inclined to stay through the coming years of likely further unpopularity.
