Sex Offenders in your area...

I called the portland police bureau a couple weeks ago and asked for a list of sexual offenders/predators in my area (SE portland)
When I got the list...I was kinda shocked. There are 132 offenders...most of which are within a 40 block radius of my house. Three of these people are sexual predators...and all three of them live within five blocks of my house.
Whats up with this? Is it just me...or does 132 seem like a lot for such a small area?
This list gives names..addresses..race...height, weight...the color of the offenders hair and eyes...date of birth...
*Interesting facts...3 of the 132 offenders are women....10 of the 132 offenders are black..the rest are caucasians. The oldest offender was born in 1938...the youngest was born in 1985(one of the females!). The average age of offenders on this list is early to late 40's.
This bugs me out. How well do you know your neighborhood?

we should just be glad that the public has access to that information. protecting yourself if important.

The two of you are right on the money, we should have access to this vital information, primarily for the fact that I have a 3 year old son. I want to know who is in my area of Federal Way. For all the parents on here we appreciate this thread, its' great knowledge to have.

ya... I have a son who will be 2 in june. Thats why I got the list. I do wish that they would tell you which ones were child sex offenders...but they dont.
I watch my kid like a hawk...but still its a good thing to know where these people live...just so I can stay away from them.
I got my list by calling the police bureau....you can try to look this stuff up on the internet..but washington state doesnt provide information over the internet.
So call the cops...get a list..and prepare for shock and awe.

Yah so I totally understand, and the shitty thing is when u look at how close a lot of them live next to schools! I know one for sure who moved back into his old house, 1 FUCKIN BLOCK from the high school and day care! And to make matters worse it's only 3 blocks from the place he used to commit these crimes over the course of a 9 year period! I fucking hates these bastards. And if you think not all of them might be " bad guys", just take a look at the level of offender that they are. 3 is the worst....GRRRRRrr

I have some friends, who'm I trust to the point where if they held a gun to my head I wouldn't sweat, who could through government intrusion be deemed "sex offendors" But I'd still trust them...

I suppose the percentage of people in that bracket are minute in comparison to those you need to avoid at all costs, but charles did have a decent point.

Well...as far as a 23 year old bangin a 17 year old at a party...If she consented to it...I dont really see that as *horrible* sexual abuse.(prolly not abuse at all..in fact) If she was raped..he would be a *horrible* sexual offender. But not as *horrible* as 48 year old men who finger toddlers for kicks. Motherfuckahs should burn in a fiery pit in the 7th sector of hell.

By the way ... the word horrible only looks cool if you put it between astricks.

Well for Wash it's the Sherrif's office web site. I dont know about OR though. And as for people you'd still trust who have been deemed offenders... I dont even want to go there because there are a lot of people who still trust men who molest and rape 8 year old girls... ack.. sick.. this thread will just make me mad as hell so I cant visit this anymore.. grrrrr

Mokedo...Im not trusting anyone who is an offender. Im just saying if a 23 year old sleeps with a 17 year old...and she consents..then its not a big crazy deal. If he raped her...thats bad bad bad and he should perish.
I know a ton of young chicks that sleep with older men and lie about thier ages. I knew a chick who was 16, told the guy she was 19 (he was 21) and then when he found out her real age and dumped her...she told the cops they had done the deed and he got arrested. In my eyes...thats BS.

I just dont understand why people would fuck with little kids. I tell you..as a parent...if I ever found out someone was fuckin around with my son...I would personally put them to an end. And it would be a long, drawn out, very painful end..
A few years back they had a big story in the news, about this woman who found out that her boyfriend had been molesting her daughter while she was at work. The mother got together with her mom and her sister. They kidnapped the guy...took him to the desert, stripped him naked..and proceeded to violate him with a rather large cucumber.
Then they left him out there.
Needless to say..he got his.
Im not sure what happened to the women...Id say he got exactly what was coming to him:)

Have any of you had a rapist living next door? I have! For those of you that heard about the rapist doing his thing in West Seattle a couple of weeks ago...He was caught at my next door neighbors house! It was insane! He had been running from Santa Rosa, CA where he had several warrants including one for molestation of a 5 yr old. The kid was 19, and a friend of a friend of my neighbors introduced him to said neighbors. Of course, these neighbors had no clue what the guy was up to...But during his stay, he raped one woman, attempted to rape 2 or 3 others, and stabbed a man with a screwdriver. And he was only 19.

It weirds me to think that the guy was on my neighbor's porch watching us cut sticks for our windows and bitching about the rapist.

So, yeah...way freaky.

i say get them some fuckin therapy. quit sending people to jail so much. all it does it make them too full which is why sex offenders live next to your kids. maybe if we spent more time on rehab and education we wouldnt fear each other so much...

I have heard that most severe sexual offenders cant be rehabilitated. 9 out of 10 times they go back to thier old ways. I dunno.

Rapists are bad...but Im not really worried about them. I have a couple pistols and a shotgun...and 2 protective pitbulls. They try to come up in my house they will wish they hadnt.
What scares me are child molesters/rapists. I have a young son and It just gives me the heebies. *ick* *shudder* I watch the kid like a hawk...but when he gets a bit older...rides bikes with friends and stuff..I might not be there to protect him if something goes bad.
The best thing a parent can do for a kid is talk about the whold stranger danger issue. But dont stop there. They say that over 75% of the time, the molester is someone the family knows. So I guess you can do the
"If anyone touches you in your private places, run away and come tell us/family/cops..ect. Also you could enroll the kid in martial arts/self defense classes. That might help.

It doesn't suprise me that the list was so big. The facts are 1 in 3 girls & 1 in 4 boys will be molested / violated/ or raped in some way before they reach adulthood. That means if you're standing next to 2 or 3 of your best friends - chances are, one of you has been sexually violated in some way. That's sick, sad & wrong.

I too wondered how many on that list however, were like Charles said 17 & 23 (or whatever - a statatory situation). That would take the list down a little bit. But still, not enough.


As far the West Seattle rapist, AthenA...... I live within a few miles of West Seattle & before they caught that kid I too was wondering about where he was. To think he was right there watching you protect your home, all the while, bitching about him. That's freaky. It reminds me of when Ted Bundy used to walk Ann Rule to her car late at night, when they worked at the crisis center. To "protect her from 'that rapist' that had been on the news," he said. When all the while - it was him.

Bottom line - you have to watch your back with everyone. A sexual predator is not typically a big bad scary stranger. Most of the time - it's someone you know. Scary.

We had a 3rd time offender move in two houses down, and everyone made a big stink.

We were all told to shut up, even though he was less then a mile from a school.

About a month after he moved in, he raped a little boy.

You're right Lipi, regardless they would still be listed. I think the point that was trying to be made though was simply...... if 132 sex offenders live in your neighborhood that sux. But, if you can calculate & subtract the ones that are on the list for a statatory situation verses a creepy molester situation - you can sleep a little bit easier each night.

The thing that weirded me out the most is that type of situation could have very easily happened to me.

As some of you know, I'm very into giving (not completely) random people a place to stay, for the purpose of proving that one's odds of getting a bad seed are no greater than they were 50 or 100 years ago, when that type of travel (depending on the kindness of strangers) was so common. Hell, Rob here just so happened to be one of those people (what's up dude? you stopped calling us! Good to see you're still alive)...

When all's said and done, the lesson learned is that I should take more care in researching my guest's backgrounds...I've gotten lucky many a time, and luck runs out.

Furthermore, it's a good idea for people to take reasonable but responsible measures to insure protection. It's simple...some sticks for the window, leaving lights or stereos on...I didn't run out and buy another gun...but you know.

It's a sad and sobering realization that plenty of people out there are not "basically good". However, this will not impact the frequency of my little experiment, merely the way I go about it.

Finally - WATCH YOUR CHILLINS!!! They're the easiest pray....

OK you may think that a lot of those people on that list may only be there for having sex with a 17 year old.. but the process of getting on that list is very long and detailed. They do not just go by hear say and throw a dude in jail for having sex with a 17 year old. I'm not saying that shit doesn't happen, I'm just saying that cops and prosocuters investigate the hell out of these cases to make sure these things dont' happen. It's hard enough to get justice for someone who for sure did it, let alone proscute someone who didn't. So it's probally more like 1-3 out of 100 on that list who aren't so bad. I just hate the ignorant people who think those fuckers can change or that they didn't do it and support them. Those people piss me the fuck off and I want to poop all over their faces.
