Dear n00bsac promoters..

It's come to my attention that a lot of people don't know the basics of throwing a successful party. Let me break it down for you in steps.

Step 1:

Book your venue. My God, how many shows have we seen lately that start booking DJ's when they have no clue about where their event is going to be. Some even had to move to other cities because of this. When I say book your venue, I don't mean verbal agreement... I mean sign a contract and pay the deposit.... got that? That means don't announce a venue and say its confirmed until you have that signed contract.

**Edited to add: This forum is great for discussing dates, but by no means should you claim it fully unless you have a venue.

Step 2:

Book your DJ's. Now that you have a venue confirmed, more and better quality DJ's will be willing to play for you. Not only that, they will know the address of the venue before the day of the show.

Step 3:

Everything else. Print flyers, bring in sound and lighting, DJ equipment, decorations.

I'm certainly not an "old school" promoter by any means, but I understand how this game works. Follow these simple steps and people won't think you're a complete retard and you might even break even on your event!

Peace

Someone who put there party fully together and confirmed it before anything went up on the board...

Why do you assume hes talking to you??? every show you have done is confirmed before you throw it up. And why is it that someone cant post on how to throw events.. this guys is trying to help some of the non-sense people that are posting their threads for there shows with NO VENUE (and wont annouce it) or with nothin in there thread other then the name of the party and the time is going to run for.

Im down with jesse because some of these people need some help...

just my 2 cents tho!

Huh?

I didn't assume he was talking to me. I'm not even much of a "rave" promoter anymore. I just wanted an introduction. Put the guns down, trigger.

who is TeknoKid?

You may remember him from parties such as Down the Rabbit Hole 1 & 2, or Wonkaland?

TeknoKid is my lovely friend Kevin of Hoover Entertainment, but only I'm allowed to call him that. You may call him Jesse ;)

And he's got the right idea.

I'd like to add -

Don't call an agent for headliners until you've got the date and the venue confirmed. Those factors affect the price, and until you have information, we (agents) can't give you (promoters) a price quote.

Darrell, quit bein a bitch. <3

HI Josh..

Like I said here man, I haven't been around that long either.. but you probably know what I'm talking about. There's been a lot of people who have no idea what it takes to throw a party starting threads and bookings DJ's without having a venue or any other essentials.

I will have to introduce myself to you sometime. I saw you yesterday at oseao with Mike and Annie (I was talking to them outside as you were leaving I think).

Peace,

Jesse

Bumping this for a particular production company who has yet to secure their venue (deposit) for a fully announced event they have coming up. Their deadline is coming up very soon to secure a deposit with the venue management. You know who you are, please take action immediately.
