Craze in Seattle twice in 2 months...priceless!

I love this city!

BTW Have you guys seen <dvd> OR heard <cd> 'DJ Craze Live in Puerto Rico'....it is the shit...especially the dvd, of course. THe first 1/2 is hip hop and the 2nd 1/2 is dnb, but the visuals are the icing. I had a party w/ some "fun guys" a few weeks ago and we watched that shit str8 trippin and had a blast!! Check out the tricks section on the dvd to see him do a few of his world champion-winning routines, and the treats section has pretty good interview w/ him too. You can get it at either Fry's, Silver Platters or Tower.

Go to www.scion.com/metro

Do this. We have Premier on Wed. and it's going to be a big hassle if you don't. If you haven't done this for Premier yet, you need to. This is how they judge these events and will keep doing them for FREE if we keep it crackin' via RSVP's. Thanx.

Scene pretty much tears apart any DJ in Seattle and many other places around the country. If you haven't heard him live, then you don't know what the hell you're talking about. Which you said you might be. Craze is gonna be sick. Don't forget to RSVP! We turned about 500 people away who didn't RSVP for Premier. We're serious about that shit.

That's retarded imo, why would you turn away people who are potential drink buyers? The only time a club should be turning people away is if the place is at capacity.

monkeyhouse43
07-02-2004, 02:47 PM
We didn't have a choice. We had over 1000 people RSVP for the event. That's way more than we can hold. That is the rules with Scion and they're the ones paying for all of it. Doesn't seem like a lot to ask considering what y'all get for FREE!!!

no kidding, first come first serve....even w/ RSVP you're gonna get a crowd outside trying to get in...lots of people might RSVP and then flake out and not show up...that's not fair for the kid who has no internet who finds out word of mouth that his favorite dj is in town, and is one of the first to show up!!

Oh well, lemme know when I can RSVP for Craze!

So it's RSVP then first come, first serve? I still think that's kinda silly on Scion's part. It should just be first come first serve. People can understand being turned away because of full capacity, people can't understand getting turned away because of not RSVPing. That's shooting down future clients, which may make them not want to go back. Just my thoughts....I understand that the night is still going to be successful, but man, I just don't like that idea....

DJ CRAZE
DRUM + BASS // HIP HOP // Six Time World Champion // Cartel ·· UK

"More than just a technical DJ, Craze is a performer, inciting the crowd into a frenzy while titillating the scratch fetishists. Starting with Mobb Deep and winding up with Common -with cut and juggle excursions through Biz Markie, Q-Bert, electro and jungle -he slid easily to a second victory," stated New York City1s PAPER Magazine.

On September 18th 1999, reigning DMC World Champion, DJ Craze (ne Arist Delgado) defended his 1998 title and claimed the 1999 title with a landslide victory, a feat accomplished by only one other DJ in DMC history (Germany's DJ David won the solo competition in '90 and '91). Dedicating his winning 6 minute set to his new baby girl (Angelee, born five days previous), DJ Craze once again took home 2 gold Technics 1200's and a matching Technics DJ mixer. Craze, A-Trak, and Infamous (Allies) also claimed 2nd place in the first official DMC Vestax/Numark World Team Championships.

On September 23, 2000 in London, England, Craze defended his 1999 title and claimed the 2000 DMC World Champion title, an unprecedented 3X win, making DMC and turntablist history. He also won the Team Championship for 2000 alongside Allies' crew member A-Trak, regaining the title from the UK's Scratch Perverts.

There are DJs and there is 23 year old, three time DMC World Champion DJ Craze, a feared warrior who's also taken the top prize in the ITF, Zulu Nation and East Coast Rap Sheet battles.

Craze's championship titles include: World ITF Scratch Off Champion '98, World DMC Champion '98, 199, '00, USA DMC Champion '98, ITF Western Hemisphere Scratch Off Champion '98, Winter Music Conference Scratch Off Champion '96, '97, '98, '99, East Coast DMC Champion '97, East Coast Rap Sheet Champion '96, Zulu National Champion '95, '96.

Craze's blend of hip-hop, breaks, drum & bass and turntablism is untouchable.
His tours have included the largest North American Drum & Bass excursion - The Kung Fu Knowledge Tour, the 35 date Mixer1s TGIM Tour with DJ Infamous, and extensive dates worldwide... Jamaica, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Iceland, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Scotland, Italy, Netherlands, France, Canada, and Nicaragua. This, along with, extensive coverage in all most every hip-hop and dance music magazine and TV program available, (Check out the January 2000 cover of URB Magazine and the October 2000 covers of MIXER and DJ TIMES) has made Craze a worldwide hip-hop phenomenon.

Not only a World Champion DJ, but also a critically acclaimed producer, Craze1s discography includes:

DJ Craze - The Nexxsound (mix CD) - DMC Records
The Allies - "D-Day" EP - Asphodel
DJ Craze - "Obsessive Compulsive Disorder" EP - Zoo York Media
DJ Craze - "Crazee Musick" LP - Bomb Records
Ko Wreck Technique - "Ko-wrection" EP - Chocolate Industries
DJ Faust - "Man or Myth" - Bomb Records
Faust, Shortee, Craze - "Fathomless EP" - Bomb Records
Herbaliser - "Missing Suitcase" / DJ Craze Remix - Ninja Tune Records
East Flatbush Project - "Tried by 12" / DJ Craze Remix - Chocolate Industries
Funkstorung - Featured scratches - K7 Records
Propellarheads - DJ Craze remix for "Tektonics Project" - OM Records

Craze is a mad scientist who slices and dices beats into a breathtaking sonic concoction in his Miami laboratory and at events all over the world. When Craze is behind a set of 1200s and a mixer, he's on stage: sometimes he's shy, sometimes he's cocky, but I've never heard him be anything short of absolutely magnificent.

Where some turntablists are content to fill their routines with the same ol' thang, Craze uses his awesome technique to move beyond the crab scratch and has catapulted drum 'n' bass into a realm that nobody has yet to explore. The Nexxsound - Craze's first ever mix CD - stands as a testament to his pioneering vision of melding the mentality of a battler with the street smarts and savvy of the jungle elite.

Lauded for years by hip-hop aficionados, Craze has won the respect of England's drum 'n' bass mafia, which explains why revered British labels like V Recordings, Undiluted and Virus have presented him with exclusive tracks you won't be able to hear anywhere else. And let's not forget Craze's exclusive turntablist cut ups - three mind blowing pastiches that are all ahead of its time. Craze is moving at the speed of light. Sleep on his skills and he's gonna leave you in the dust.

DJ Craze, number one DJ in the world, and it's just the beginnings

"...a name poised to conquer." Thousand Words 12/99

"The crowd broke out into a roar as Craze scratched out his name and dropped
into a vicious set of hardstep drum 'n bass." THE SCENE (Atlanta) 10/99

A-TRAK
HIP HOP // TURNTABLIST // THE ALLIES ·· MONTREAL

When 13 year-old Alain Macklovitch started scratching on his father's turntable after school, little did he know that in the years to come his remarkably quick rise to stardom and record-breaking achievements would change the face of turntablism forever. The young, dedicated Montreal native put in hours of work every day, encouraged by his older brother Dave, listening to records by Jazzy Jeff, Pete Rock and DJ Premier for inspiration. He quickly developed a knack for understanding and mastering every technique that he heard, dissecting DMC videotapes as well as countless sections of the first "Return of the DJ" compilation. After less than two years, the bedroom DJ, who in the meantime had chosen the name A-Trak, felt he was ready to break into the battle circuit.

The first battle he entered was the 1997 DMC. Before he knew it, he was crowned Canadian champion. By the time he went to Italy (accompanied by his mother) to compete in the world finals, he had already been invited by San Francisco's DJ Q-Bert to join the celebrated Invisibl Skratch Piklz, certainly the most prestigious collective in the world at that time. A-Trak lived up to the hype, being crowned World Champion at the tender age of 15 and thus becoming the youngest champion ever, by far. His name was on the tip of everyone's tongue, and to this day his performance serves as an inspiration for up-and-coming DJs around the world. In 1998, however, when he defended his title, A-Trak was defeated by Miami's DJ Craze, who still invited him to join his new crew, the Allies. In 1999, A-Trak bounced back and won the ITF World Championships and the Vestax World Extravaganza, becoming the only DJ ever to hold all three major world titles! In 2000, he returned to DMC, joining forces with Craze to win the World Team Championship. Not satisfied with his already unparalleled resume, A-Trak decided to go one step further and was once again crowned ITF World Champion that year. Already a legend, he decided to retire from battling at the age of 18, with five world titles under his belt.

So what defines A-Trak's time-tested style? Maybe it's the fact that he is one of the few DJs to have achieved the elusive balance between technicality and musicality. In other words, his peers might be blown away by the intricacy of his scratches and beat juggles, while the average person in the audience will find that his routines, which are built like songs, simply sound good. Or maybe A-Trak's style consists in not actually having a set style, but constantly coming out with a new arsenal. Regardless, his live performances have helped him build a cult following everywhere from North America to Europe, Asia and Australia.
Yet there is much more to A-Trak than just the live sets. For starters, he DJs for Obscure Disorder, Montreal's most promising rap group. They have been releasing singles independently since 1997, which have sold well over 25,000 copies. By cutting on their records A-Trak has been steadily pushing the limits of how scratching can be integrated into rap songs. He has also put out some solo material, notably the "Enter Ralph Wiggum" 45 on Peanut Butter Wolf's Stones Throw Records, and the comical "All Hail To My Hands", a standout track on The Allies' "D-Day" EP. Furthermore, A-Trak is involved in the other side of the music industry as co-owner of Audio Research records with his brother, Obscure Disorder's producer Dave 1. The label was founded in 1997, and has since become very well established in the independent hip hop circuit world-wide. One of A-Trak's main tasks is handling the battle records division, Ammo Records, on which he recently released his own highly anticipated "Gangsta Breaks".

The Canadian prodigy is known for being on the cutting edge of turntablism. He is the youngest DJ to be inducted into DMC's DJ Hall of Fame. He was featured in two documentary movies: "Hang The DJ" and Iara Lee's seminal "Modulations". He played at the Montreal International Jazz Festival in 1998 alongside John Zorn and Bill Laswell, and again in 1999, opening with Kid Koala for Carl Craig's Innerzone orchestra in front of 100,000 spectators. In 1998 A-Trak was named one of Canada's 25 most influential musicians by Shift magazine. He won YTV's Youth Achievement Award in the Specialty Performance category in 1999 (YTV is a Canadian television network). In January 2000, he graced the cover of URB magazine along with longtime friends Kid Koala and Craze. Later that year, he was given Teen People magazine's What's Next award. He has even developed a revolutionary notation system which allows him to write scores of scratch patterns and solos. He introduced it to the DJ community at the Skratchcon 2000 conference in San Francisco, and later announced that he would eventually put out a book on the topic. In 2001, his crew, The Allies, started their own invitational DJ battle, the All-Star Beatdown, and launched Tablist magazine, the first magazine to be entirely devoted to the art of turntablism.

At the age of 20, A-Trak is not only one of the world's most advanced and well-rounded DJs, he is also a role model for the younger generation, having successfully balanced a musical career and top academic achievements. He is currently hard at work finishing up Obscure Disorder's full-length LP, recording some long-awaited solo material, and touring the world.

so what's the deal? I RSVP'd but don't get off work until 9:30 on Tuesday...I'm not getting ready to come down there after work if I'm gonna get turned away because the RSVP's are just a bogus way to give Scion my email address for spam, or whatever....

Can someone fill me in on the this? Why do RSVP's expire at 5pm if the doors open at 9pm?

I think it means that you have up until 5 pm that day to RSVP, then after that you are out of luck. If you RSVP before that cut-off, then you are all good :)

Doors open at 9 pm. You have until 5 pm on Tuesday to RSVP. That simple.

The list closes at 5pm. Doors are at 9pm.

This is so Scion can generate the guest list and email it to Seattle.

The 5pm cut off also gives us a general idea of what the turnout will be like so we have time to prepare for the show based on the number of people that RSVPed (bartenders, security, etc.)

just show up before it gets packed...
They have list, like they did for Premier, (I was at Jazzy Jeff too)
and if you are on the RSVP list, you are fine...

The 5pm notice means you have to have had RSVP'd by then...
My buddies were turned away from DJ Premier, since they didn't RSVP...
See yall there

well, considering the message "reservations will expire at 5pm on July 20th" flashed right AFTER I made a reservation....made it not so simple, but thanks.

Hey, I was wondering what time Craze and A-trak are going to be starting? I have to work at 3:30AM and want to get as much sleep as possible before I come down to this show, so a time would be much appreciated. thank you
