Scissor Sisters Seattle Debut
This band is not that well known in the States although they are huge in the UK and Europe (their record is #1 in Ireland this week and in the top 10 in England).
The only time I have heard them is on the new theme song for Queer Eye (you're filthy, and you're gorgous).
I had the great pleasue to see them in England at the end of May at the festival Homelands, they were the opening act in the live tent that day for Faithless, who headlined (plus there were about 30 DJs in other tents quite good ya ya ya).
They were amazing and put on a great show live, of course, being adored by 10,000 people did not hurt the preformance.
They are disco, at time sounding like Chic (scratchy guitar and all), they are funk, house, a little glam, a lot electro clash, and pretty gay. Great vocals are shared by the 2 leads (guy and girl) and he has an amazing falsetto (they often sound like the house version of the Bee Gees). They do an amazing cover of Pink Floyds "Comfortably Numb" that is if Pink Floyd ever did pills and then ran out to dance at the local gay disco.
Although they are not really my favorite type of music, and I prob would not have tracked them down if I had not seen them live, I think you should all check themout as they are a real treat. It will be cool seeing them in a club like Nuemos after I have seen them is such a big venue. If they break in the States 10% as much as they have in Europe they will be huge and this show should be a special one to see (before they go big).
They are a real band thay plays live and sound amazing, great guitar, funky bass, drums, keys and 2 singers. They are very much in the vein of Fischerspoon, except they actually play instruments (don't get me wrong, I love Fischerspoon's campy performances).
Anyway, saw that SS were playing Seattle and was surprised to not see a post about it, so you are duely warned.
I think you will have fun and smile, maybe even dance. I did and I will.
