Two things that i really enjoy are raves and a good skatepark. these are not the only things i enjoy but the only things that pertain at this moment.
What if a group of investors were to get together and rent out a HUGE warehouse. one maybe with two rooms and a total SQ footage about the size of naf. a perfect place to throw a party. a sound system could be put in. some kewl perminant decorations etc. well a place like this would be pretty spendy if it were used once a week for a rave. so how else could it be funded?

It could be used as seattle's largest skatepark. and an INDOOR one at that. i mean with our winters and even our summers it would get PLENTY of use. granted it would take some careful thought into how the ramps would be made so that they could be put out of the way for an event but that could be worked around.

So basically a location OUTSIDE of seattle so that the TDO does not affect it. but not toooo far out of seattle that noone wants to drive there. It would be a new location for partys with things like built in bathrooms. atleast a few but for large events you would still have to have a few honey buckets (becuase of a law about # of toilets to people) there would already be a sound system but there could be extra equipment put in there for a rave. I mean all the skaters i know including myself love to listen to music when ripping it up.

well this is just my idea i know there are some holes in it if you have any ideas or comments on what you think please let me know. seattle could gain a great new party place and a great new skatepark.

Im chairperson for the puyallup skate park project, and i think that would be really cool, but there are some issues like liability that could get very tricky.

well as for liability thats an obvious factor. but a public skate park that pop's up in a town like puyallups will be insured by the city if its gunna run like any other parks in the area. so the city has a say in it. If its a private bussiness the citys say is alot less. kinda like when you go to a rollerskating rink your kinda half covered. i have taken out 1mil insurance policys before that could be worked out.
Thanks kim

I recommend you get ordained and become a reverend, get two others who agree with you and start a church. Its totally legal and if you have a vision behind it all the better. It costs 35$ to get the forms and info to start a church, its free to be ordained. Go to www.ulc.org . They are a universal church: everyone's beliefs are good. They have won battles in the courts concerning the validity of their organization and won. Then you can a) get donations b) throw parties there that are religious celebrations and thus it is UNCONSTITUTIONAL to break them up. c)You can get many benefits, tax breaks and donations that will give you the leeway to be able to pay for the space.
There is something like this forming in Portland. There is also something like it a little more established in chicago. If you're interested, email me. Good luck to you! That is totally what Seattle needs right now.

Do you have any idea how hard it is to get an indoor skatepark? It is almost impossible, due to insurrance reasons. Any indoor structure (that includes having a roof of any sort) is not covered under the W-codes. I can tell you horror stories about how hard it was for me to even get the park built in my town. We had a indoor site that was perfect... but it is impossible to do!
