LUKE MCKEEHAN
http://www.nordictrax.com/
Nordic Trax, Van
As a veteran of Toronto's warehouse scene in the late eighties, spinning everything from hip-hop to house, producer and DJ Luke McKeehan found his way out West in the early nineties where he began playing in and around Vancouver. He released a series of downtempo records on the Seattle-based label Sweet Mother Records as High Fidelity, and was a founding force behind Canada's first indie jazz/soul/funk label Mo' Funk. After a string of successful releases Luke decided to start a new project, designed to release music that was more dancefloor-orientated and further develop the sound associated with his memorable DJ sets of deep house. His own label Nordic Trax was born. Since the birth of Nordic Trax in 1997, Luke has released eleven 12's and 3 albums from artists including Gavin Froome, Tim Shumaker (aka Home & Garden, aka TOS), Peter Hecher and Tyler 'T-Bone' Stadius, alongside his own projects including the critically acclaimed 'CPU Experience' which received support from DJs such as Gilles Peterson, Kenny Hawkes and Fred Everything. Luke is also the pioneering force behind both of Vancouver's most groundbreaking venues; The Chameleon Lounge and Sonar have consistently delivered some of the most forward thinking club nights the city has witnessed since their conception in the mid-nineties.

They also put their main instruments aside to engage in extended percussion interplay. The band features Nojeem Lasisi from Igbo Ora, Oyo State, in Nigeria. He ranks among the world’s elite talking drum players. Nojeem was given his first drum at age four by his father, also a master drummer, who handed down to Nojeem its powerful language. As a member of Nigerian superstar King Sunny Ade's group, the African Beats, Nojeem toured the world and appears on numerous recordings with King Sunny, including "Seven Degrees North" and "Odu”.
