The Commix fellows delivered one of the most danceable sets I have had the glory of dancing to at the Baltic Room in a long ass time.

Yay!

Copied and pasted from HERE (http://www.seattlednb.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=322)

I had an excellent time last night. Commix threw down some nice tracks, pretty solid mixing, and overall a very pleasant set. There were a lot of people there last night too! Definitely a good thing.

but I really wanted to know what type of tunes they played. How would you guys describe it? (wether it be by jungle styles or comparisons w/ other dj's)

(wether it be by jungle styles or comparisons w/ other dj's) Played a whole ton o' new tracks, the only one I recognized was Roni Size's "I wanna see you shake in your boots, back to tha old school, back to your roots." The mixing was supertight, tagteamy. I'm not very good at pegging things into subgenres - you might wanna check Seattle Drum and Bass' Commix at The Baltic (http://www.seattlednb.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=322) review for more specifics.

Deep, heavy beats.
The bass was definetely meant to be felt more than it was to be heard.
Lots of snappy, funky beats mixed with dubby samples and jazzy edges.
Definitely not as melodic as people were expecting, which is just the way I like it.
Heavy rhythms, deep bass, soulful edges.
All around, good stuff.
