So I know there is a lot of negative stuff that happens in this world but what about the good things in your life? Anything new and amazing happen in your life you want to share with the world? You got a new job? Just bought a house? Spill it here! :)
Negative vents go here: Vent your Rant (http://nwtekno.org/vb/showthread.php?threadid=32242&highlight=vent+your+rant
)
Gloating your talents goes here: Self Glorification Thread (http://nwtekno.org/vb/showthread.php?threadid=66215&highlight=official)
(If there is another thread like this, please post so I can incorporate this in the original post or delete this one. :) I did a search but to no avail. Maybe I didn't have the right keyword?)
I'll start.
After four years of procrastination and work drama, I am finally going back to school. I just registered yesterday and couldn't feel better! I also just started working out religiously every other day at Bally's and love it! I love getting an endorphin rush after running 20 minutes on a cross track/trainer thing :D
NOW Spill the good stuff people! There has to be positivity in this world somewhere.

I just got $4000/year richer yesterday. with bigger bonuses to come.
I'm going to manage the development and propogation of my company's flagship product. After they send me to some free classes, since I'm woefully unskilled in using many of the tools (SPSS, PHP, Perl, statistical analysis.) So I'm also getting free schooling.
I think the only reason I got the promotion was because I look nice in a tie, and I'm very pleasant and diplomatic around the office. :D
now all I need is one of those red laser pointer thingies...

I was just thinking about starting a thread like this, because so many good things have happened lately.
So, I'm a huge dork and my academic performance means a lot to me. I registered for 19 credits this term, and half of them are 400/500 level courses. So, I'm a sophomore, and in classes with graduate students, and having been feeling a lot of pressure to prove myself. And all term I have been getting compliments from classmates, profs, and T.A.s. The other day, a woman approached me after class and said, "you really know your stuff." I met with one of my profs outside of class, and she told me that I'm one of the best writers in her class. It's not so much that I don't think I'm smart, but I really appreciate getting that affirmation from other people (especially ones that I respect). Like I said...I'm a big dork.
Also. I was cast for a major role in the Vagina Monologues this year, which was a blessing in disguise for so many reasons. It was fun, I pushed myself beyond what I thought I was capable of, I conquored some major stage fright, and I won a new sex toy! There's a raffle at each performance, and I ended up buying a ticket and winning a Rabbit. Huzzah!

2) I got mailed a notice saying that I forgot to deposit a check two years ago, and I have the option to explain the reason and get a new check issued. I think it might be return karma for giving someone back a $100 bill that he dropped near me.
3) I've gained a ton of new friends recently and I feel loved by everyone ::warm cozy moment::

i stumbled right for a change! a few months back, i found this groovy transcription job, but it's crazy part-time. like, the work is based on quarterly financial reports, i.e., one month's work for four months out of the year. at first blush, it looks like quite a waste of time.
but i enjoyed it and knew there were opportunities to do/learn more with it, so i have been diligently checking in daily and keeping myself on the work list - there's some stuff to do in the "off-season," but the call volume is nothing, relatively speaking.
and it turns out that one of the additional opportunities available there is something called scoping (http://scopists.com/library/pro/scintro.html), which i had never heard of but know is just perfect for me. so i am one goddamned happy camper to have an in on this line of work - otherwise, it's take some bullshit certification course while trying to start from ground zero!

this morning i woke up to my fiancee sitting on the side of the bed before he had to leave for work. he was just stroking my hair and occasionally lightly kissing the very tips of my pointy ears. it was so sweet i pretended to stay asleep to not ruin the moment. but it wasn't just a moment...it was a long time...the petting just continued. he finally tried to wake me (he knows i hate waking up without getting to say goodbye) and starting to kiss me and whispering "i love you so much" into my ear. it was the sweetest way i've ever woken up.
and the day gets only better. in the mail i got a 200£ gift certificate to bliss spa. i also got some products i ordered. but i didn't just get what i ordered. they made a mistake and sent me an extra package with half the stuff i ordered and didn't charge me for it. i got 75£ worth of beauty products for free. being jewish, and bliss products being ridiculously expensive, this makes me happy.

my boyfriend does the exact same thing, if i get to sleep in and he has to go to work early, he gets up and gets ready and then before he leaves he comes over and whispers in my ear that he loves me and gives me a kiss goodbye. He'll use it as a way to wake me up too if i'm napping or something...its definately super sweet, i love it.
I think the only thing i have to gloat about at the moment is that i got an AWESOME six month review at my work. I got mostly 3's (out of 3) and only a couple of 2's and my supervisor wrote some super nice comments...:D

i went shopping today...seriously shopping, for the first time since i've been in london. i did really well. david gave me a limit and didn't tell me what it was and then when i got home i was 100£ under the limit. he was very happy, and expected me to spend more.
i got him mutually fulfilling presents at agent provacateur, my first creme de le mer, i finally got my chanel prefum that i ran out of in israel and a lot of makeup at chanel as well. and then i got an amazing haircut at one of the best salons in london. i'm feeling kind of pretty. my hair is great, i smell good, and i get to wear sassy underthings. its a good anniversary. and the best part is that david told me i have the same spending limit every weekend. and next week i am allowed to get the balenciaga bag i want. this is so nice after spenidng a long time being a poor traveler and spendning the summer arelatively frugally until david got his new sun microsystems contract. now i'm getting completely spoiled.

i went to go browse the fly fishing store up the street that ive had my eye on for a while.
i ran in and talked to the store owner for a while and he tried tosell me this really expensive fly line (65 to 80 bucks for fishing line wtf) so i told him i was on a budget and i really wasnt expecting to pay so much for fishing liine.. he told me i should probably go to bimart or something then.
so i responded with.. youre so helpful and right up the street from me.. youve answered all my questions and i would really rather support a locally owned business. =)
i got the fly line for 10 bucks.
then, while im in the store.. this guy walks in and tells me hes my neighbor.. i had told him when he was looking at the apartment that the landlord sucks.. and how hes such a wretched jizzwad etc... but id be more than happy to be his neighbor if he did decide to move in... at any rate.. it turns out he fly fishes all the time.. and has been since he was a little kid. and he lives right next door to me.
so i got a really rockin deal on my fly line (i was about ready to cough up 60 bucks too but figured if you dont ask you dont know the answer) and ive got a next door neighbor that doesnt know the area really well but knows a shit load about fly fishing..
and my daughter slept through all of this .... =)
and..... i got a new job and my boss is like the most awesome boss i couldve ever asked for.. ive got a flexible schedule, so i can sleep in if i want.. weekends are optional if i want more work its there for me. and he doesnt mind just sitting around and chatting.. he even gives out micro brews at the end of the day =)
so... im glad this thread opened back up... cuz like.. some things in life really kick ass!!!
