For sure!! I'm mixed (black/white) for anyone that actually has seen me they might not believe it....except for when they see me from behind. (I get called "black from the back" for a reason.) ;)

Now even though an asshole brought up this discussion in negative terms I'd like to bring it to a more positive light/concern:

First off, being mixed brings about a different perspective for me. I am by all means "white" but my mother, my sister, and my brother are quite dark. People see us together, look very puzzled, and are never sure if we're a family. I even get the occasional "Are you adopted?" question. I'm not going to lie to you, I've noticed my existence makes people uncomfortable...they are never sure how to categorize me.

On top of that, my boyfriend, Geno, is Puerto Rican. Both him and I can attest that walking down the streets of Seattle, holding hands gets a lot of long stares. People may say things like interracial couples aren't a problem, but the stares and the way people uncofortably approach me would deem otherwise. People are comfortable with what they know and I think I can honestly say that a lot of Americans still aren't comfortable with the interracial marriages/children. Just something to think about........

I am proud that my parents are of different colors. Navajo Indian and Black. My son has my traits and his mother is Irish and German. He's a bright and great looking kid. Truthfully I feel the race issue should be eliminated from social interaction whether it be for dating,marriage,or friendship.For when it comes down to it we are all one race.
