7/1/05 The Advent - Live - K - Research - Uk / Portugal @ Consolidated Works SEA
RENEGADE RHYTHMS AND SOG RESEARCH IS PROUD TO PRESENT
CISCO FERREIRA AKA THE ADVENT - LIVE PA - KOMBINATION RESEARCH, TRESOR, SOG RESEARCH - UK / PORTUGAL
The Advent have been involved in the house / techno scene for many years now. Francisco Ferreira kicked his career off in style when not long after leaving school he found himself working as a sound engineer for Jack Trax, engineering for Derrick May, Fingers Inc & Adonis. Cisco's solo releases included the 1988 classic " Space Opera's " The Project on R&S Records, Belgium and the eponymously titled Cisco Ferreira EP on Fragile Records. His other engineering credits includes work with Loose Ends, Bang the Party & Shock Sound System (Ashley Beadle).
Cisco was also involved in collaborations in 1990, with Fade II Black for Bio Rhythms 2 on Network Records. Cisco also co produced with CJ Bolland on The 4th Sign/ Mantra, Camarage, Nightbreed and Live At Universe for R&S Records he has also worked alongside the likes of Mundo Musique
In 1994 Cisco signed to Internal Recordings and formed The Advent. Since then The Advent have released a series of outstanding EP's that have combined the best elements of Electro and Techno, but always generated music with a dance floor edge.
Elements of Life (1994) represented The Advent's sound perfectly and many of the tracks had already been road-tested in their live performances.
Then came Shaded Elements (remix project) and this was followed by the release of the 3rd album New Beginning's (1996) one quote from a magazine said " Prepare to phunk Advent style, to this brain shaking, electro-frying sequel "
The Advent have been causing mass limb gyration and 909 detonation world-wide and whether it's at the hands of a pair of 1210's or during live performance's. The Advent have taken hold of the millennium dance floor and decoded its alien phunk scripture into their own sound system speaker shock blast. This in fact is the New Testament of dance music.
In 1998 came the distinctive mixed album, Kombination Phunk, this was a series of tracks supplied by the likes of Dopplereffect, Luke Slater's Planetary Assault Systems and Joey Beltram.
Cisco is now runs number of labels including Kombination Research & Alpha Recordings. Kombination Research was launched in 97 the mission was to keep it 100% advent style, and after departing from London Records in 97 Cisco wanted to build on the love of music strictly for the underground masses, after 13 successful releases on Kombination Research the time had come to present a long player with the same idea as shaded elements, this project "Re Creations" will be based on the same idea, introducing new talent from the last 7 years to mix all the past 18 EP's on K.R.
WLA GARCIA – BROTECH, BUSH, IN_TENSION, EKHO PORT - PORTUGAL
Wla was influenced by his father who when he was a small child listening to Blues, Jazz & Disco. Since an early age Wla Garcia had a love for music and this led to him being further influenced by his older brother XL Garcia. During the late ‘80’s his brother started to play with decks and from there he found himself playing in clubs around Portugal. Wla Garcia was so excited to what he saw that he then decided to buy his own decks along with a friend and learn the art of mixing.
During this time he began to arrange small events in schools and youth clubs to get experience until the time he found himself playing in front of crowds in venues around Portugal. Wla Garcia during this time created a following and a style that eventually made him become popular to the Portuguese dance crowd.
When Techno started to become very popular in Portugal Wla had his own club night at a venue called “Saturday” of which he invited international artists like Trevor Rockcliffe, Mike Dearborn and Gayle San to name but a few and sometimes… these parties sometimes went on for 24 hours…
Because of his commitment and love of the dance music an agency in Portugal (X-Club) recognised is talent and decided to introduce him to their own parties up and down the country, this led to Wla performing at events where there could be 10,000 people and DJ’s performing there like Carl Cox, Jeff Mills, Josh Wink, Dave Clarke, Richie Hawtin, Umek, Adam Beyer,to name just a few.
But let’s forget the past, let’s bring you the present… by the late 90’s Wla decided to build his own personal studio… his first release was on a Portuguese compilation for Squeeze Records titled “Squeeze 2000” from there, he decided to start his label along with is brother called Brotech.
The first EP on Brotech was released in 2000. The EP included a remix by Cisco Ferreira aka The Advent and the sales were phenomenal. This success led Wla Garcia to record more tracks and he was further recognised for his unique style by international artists worldwide and this to his track “Work in Progress” on Bush Records which was charted by Carl Cox for five weeks in is website.
Since the launch of Brotech and the success that came from it Wla decided to start his own label In_Tension Records (2001). Wla was now achieving what he set out to do and that was to create his own style of Techno. Labels started to see what he was achieving and invited him to send his own work, Bush Records and Kombination Research gave Wla the chance to do this.
Wla just started his new project along with Cisco Ferreira aka The Advent where they bring out always one side each on every release
From their new imprint EKHO PORT who promises to be one of the best techno labels and always releasing the best techno you can hear.
So, we have an artist who has played alongside with the greats of Techno but we also have an artist who as well enjoyed doing this produces some of the finest Techno coming out of Portugal…

Buzz Goree is great, he tore it up when I saw him. Great choice. It would be something if you could get "Mad" Mike Banks to come along as well.
I love Underground Resistance! I had the chance to see them at Fuse/DEMF this year, they blew my mind.

Awesome, yes Fuse was wonderful this year. I am from Portland, saw KMC and Jerry. Both were great to kick it with after the show. I will be going to The Advent tonight at the Holocene. Too bad it's not on a Friday, but you guy's got that one.
