[2/18][SEA] Kinetic at the Pacific Science Center w/ DJ HEATHER, Atmos, Lusine!
Last summer, Infinite Connections, IOSIS Art Party and Uniting Souls took over the Pacific Science Center with Farina and Human Blue at Magnetic, on February 18th, 2006 they’re teaming up with Decibel Festival for
Featuring:
ATMOS (Spiral Trax - Sweden) started in the early seventies when a young boy saw television for the first time. Instantaneously fascinated by different soundtracks and jingles, the interest for music was born. After a short bedroom DJ career, Tomasz Balicki decided to produce his own music under the name Atmos. Thanks to his natural talent for music, Tomasz released his first 12”in 1996 on the British label, EVE records. His influences from electronic and ambient-rock music like JM Jarre and Pink Floyd quickly made him become one of the most successful producers in the hypnotic and atmospheric trance scene. Tomasz has produced an experimental compilation with Flying Rhino, a mix CD with Phonokol and 2 albums with Spiral Trax. His album ‘Headcleaner’ was a smashing hit and sold over than 16,000 copies. His track, ‘Klein Aber Doctor’, can be found on a Ministry of Sound compilation mixed by Jimmy Van M. He has also released numerous 12”s as well as remixes for Kox Box, The Delta and Cass N Slide. Tomasz has a side-project together with his friend Henrik Jonsson (aka Stressassassin) called Echolab, which features more club oriented music allowing him to experiment with this field. He has already released some tracks with the Swiss house label, Sog. He is a sought after remixer and his remix of Saiko-pod’s “Phutures” on ACDC has been licensed to John 00 Flemming’s “White Label Euphoria 2”, Sandra Collin’s “Perfecto Presents” and was shortlisted on Paul Oakenfold’s “Great Wall” mix CD on Perfecto. As well as gaining the support from DJs such as Paul van Dyk, Hernan Cattaneo, Armin van Buuren, Danny Howells and Chris Fortier to mention a few.
DJ HEATHER (Blackcherry Recordings - Chicago) interest in music was sparked early on by her parents’ eclectic music collection. She started out in the early nineties at the Artful Dodger, a neighborhood pub with a cramped moist dance area situated in the rear. During her fourth year at the Dodger, she began what would become a three-year residency at Red Dog. At that same time she landed her first residency at Smart Bar. The second would follow five years later and remains till this day. Around that same time she recorded her first vocal project; Joining Derrick Carter’s Sound Patrol Orchestra, along with house luminary Chez Damier for “Tripping Among The Stars” on the Organico label. She also began a short but invaluable stint at world famous Gramaphone Records. In 1998 she was asked by San Francisco transplant and fellow Chicagoan Mark Farina to support his Mushroom Jazz 2 cd tour. She would later join him on the road in support of the third and fourth installments of the Mushroom Jazz series. As well as the house release San Francisco Sessions for Om Records in 1999. A year later Heather released her own officially licensed mix “Tangerine” for the Chicago based Afterhours label. The UK’s Jockey Slut magazine touted her, as a star on the rise in their Feburary 2002 issue. The next month she won the first ever Dancestar award for Breakthrough DJ. That year Heather also began her relationship with the London club Fabric. ”In 2003 Vancouver’s Nordic Trax asked her to take on mixing duties “Dancefloor Principles. 2005 also marked Heather’s installment to the much heralded Fabric CD series, for the club of the same name. With 15 years of experienced behind her Dj Heather has grown to become one of the Windy City’s main Dj exports. She is an artist who defies conformity, defines quality and continues to nurture her solid skills for soul music of the technological generation. http://www.ilovedjheather.com
Lusine (Ghostly/Hymen/Delikatessen - SEA) (Jeff McIlwain) has been augmenting headspaces worldwide since the late ’90s with releases on IDM standard-bearers such as Isophlux, U-Cover, and Hymen. His profile’s ascended the last couple of years with immaculately sculpted IDM, electro, and techno releases for Ann Arbor’s red-hot Ghostly International label (check Serial Hodgepodge for proof). As his much-stamped passport attests, Lusine’s a sought-after performer. His performances sparkle with bracingly original slants on whichever genre captures his fancy. - The Stranger
Deru (Neo Ouija/Merck – LA) (Benjamin Wynn) is a Chicago native currently living in Los Angeles. He longs for the future when he can grab the cerebral sounds he imagines, yet secretly hopes to never reach that point, for he enjoys the struggle. He has released two albums, "Pushing Air" (Neo Ouija) and "Trying to Remember" (Merck), which both capture a sense of introspection and isolation. Deru's devotion to these themes is reflected even in his name; Deru is the root of tree and duration. Ben maintains that once music is released, it takes on a life of its own and casts down roots. While listening to his compositions while driving along the coast of Spain or on headphones in the men's room of Newark Airport, it is impossible for Ben to predict the life of his music. He thrives on the unpredictability, and really wouldn't want it any other way.
Wendy J (Goddess Collective – LA) has been DJing around western US & Canada since 2001. Starting out playing progressive house, trance and breakbeats, she found her soul in psy trance. Wendy is the only female full-on psy trance DJ in the Los Angeles area. She keeps her musical tastes very danceable, funky, dark-but-happy. Her talents for programming a journey into a fun, exciting, danceable set, combined with her lively stage presence, showmanship and personality are steadily building a following everywhere she performs. Wendy J loves to entertain and take her audience on a journey, not just make them dance. “It’s about elevating one’s party experience. I try to make it that much more special when I perform.” She has begun to dabble with music production this year. Wendy J has played at such events as Shambhala, (Salmo, BC), Phoenix Festival (Klickitat Co, WA), L.A. Burning Man DECOM (Los Angeles, CA), Burning Man – Psytribe Camp (Nevada), Outpsyed (Calgary), Sweet Relief (Calgary), Winter Solstice, (Calgary), Masquerave (Pittsburgh), Psy Fix Weekly (Los Angeles), Reflections (Ventura County CA), Xara Dulzura (San Diego, CA), Solstinox (San Jose, CA), I Am Medeival (Hollywood, CA), and Wokini (Sequoia Nat’l Forest, CA) – to name a few. http://www.wendyj.net
erth (Psybooty Records/team:abunai – PDX) AKA Daniel Marks has been missing since November 16, 2005. Although we are still hopeful that erth will be found, we have added Amanita (IOSIS Art Party - SEA) to the lineup. Amanita will be playing a special set with an emphasis on 'unreleased' erth music. For more information, please go to: http://teamabunai.org/danielmarks
Amanita (IOSIS Art Party - SEA) AKA Brian Parker. From the rain soaked environment of the North West Brian has helped shape the direction of the psychedelic community for over 6 years. Cutting his teeth with Psychedelic Trance this local dj, promoter, and producer has played up and down the West coast with a who’s who list of international talent such as Talamasca, Human Blue, Oforia, Shakta, Penta, Atomic Pulse, Wizzy Noise, Sun Control Species and Ticon. While having a deep respect for his psychedelic roots Amanita has shifted his focus to a deeper more tribal psychedelic sound that “floats in the air exactly the way that bricks don’t”.
and the only Iboga Records DJ in the US:
Osiris Indriya (Iboga Records, Oracle Gatherings, IOSIS Art Party - SEA) is a legend of the West Coast Underground Dance scene. He has been featured with underground artists such as Brian, Brad, and Trevor of L.A. Moontribe, Manoj of Uplift in Portland, OR, trance goddess Phoenix Olivia in Vancouver B.C., and Lorin (bassnectar) from Santa Cruz/SF, CA. Osiris has also been featured along side recording artists Human Blue (Spiral Trax, chill code - Sweden) and SunControlSpecies (Zenon, Iboga - Australia), as well as Antix, Beat Bizarre, and DJ Banel from Danish Progressive label Iboga Records where he is now an official label DJ. He is a weekly resident at Contour Night Club in Seattle for IMPULSE Thursdays. All this while playing at forest, desert, beach, and indoor gatherings, club nights, and festivals up and down the west coast, as well as internationally including the Double 6 in Kuta, Bali and Shambhala Music Fesival in Nelson, Canada. Driven to take Seattle to the next level, Osiris has been deep into creating several projects. As co-founder of the Oracle Gatherings, he is bringing a new paradigm in a growing dance community by integrating with the Northwest’s mythical undercurrent. All this has helped inspire the release of his all original progressive and downtempo CD, "Reach Within". http://www.osirisindriya.com/

To keep your body in motion,
we’ve assembled a supporting crew of the best west coast DJs:
Ramiro & Jeromy Nail
Ramiro (Uniting Souls – SEA) A native of Bluefields, Nicaragua, Ramiro was exposed to multi-cultural music from an early age, from Caribbean soca, reggae, and dance hall to Latin music such as salsa and merengue. At 12, his family moved to New Orleans, where jazz, blues, and funk permeated the region's rich music culture. During his early college years in San Francisco, Ramiro converged upon the electronic music scene that exploded in the Bay Area in the early 90s with Wicked Full Moons to Come-Unity, Stompy Stomp, and the legendary Sunset outdoor parties. With the support of friends, Ramiro began producing his own events to showcase the talents of many local artists and musicians, and thus, Uniting Souls was born. Now a resident of Seattle, Ramiro continues to work towards fostering a creative, nurturing environment ripe for artistic expression, spearheading the newly-launched record label Uniting Souls Music. http://www.unitingsouls.com
&
Jeromy Nail (Uniting Souls – SEA) Jeromy Nail has built a reputation as one of Seattle's hardest working DJ's, respected for consistently delivering a unique, if not eclectic, vibe. Dancers have recognized his passion and energy describing his sets as "deep and powerful" and coming "from the heart." He has had the honor of sharing the stage with notables such as Miguel Migs & Lisa Shaw, Kaskade, DJ Heather, Sombionx & Lindsay, Alexander East, Mazi, Marques Wyatt, Johnny Fiasco, Joshua aka DJ Iz, Lego, Rick Preston, Jay-J, Andy Caldwell, King Britt, Taj, Jacob London, Raoul Belmans, and Derrick Carter just to name a few... http://www.unitingsouls.com
Night Owls
Andrew Mataus & Dave Dluxx (Gaia Tribe – Eugene, OR) At the ripe age of 17 Andrew played his first party Recycle. His music soon took him to Calgary, Canada for the Techno Collective. Andrew had a dream of flying as far as he could for a gig. Dreams became reality when offered the opportunity to play for Russia’s number one club Propaganda, Moscow and becoming the youngest dj to do so, at age 19. This was Andrew’s first European tour including House Café and Telefunken, in La Corunå Spain, as well as Paradise Garage in Lisbon, Portugal. In 1998, Andrew joined with his brother Maté to start Gaia Tribe. In 2000 Gaia Tribe presented the NW with DYOD a 2 night, 3 day free outdoor gathering. In the first year it turned 1,300 people, the second year 1,800. Gaia Tribe linked with Tropical House LA to create a west coast network for global house artists. Together they look to create a chain of underground parties for world-class talent. Andrew has teamed up with Amfibious and UnitingSouls to help guide the launch of Global Village Recordings. Bringing new music with such chunky, bumpin, twisted, vibin sounds you will truly understand why they call it Global Village. Look for the launch of the label in 2006. From Costa Rica to Canada, Portugal to Russia, Andrew Mataus has, in a short time, impacted the globe with the intention of peace and culture.
Julie Herrera & Wasabi
Julie Herrera (Woord!/KMA – SEA) this southern California native, grew up in a house full of varied musical styles…from early disco to new wave, soulful R&B to Latin influences. It was in the early ‘90s where the sounds of house took hold of her soul. Julie has been involved in the Seattle scene djing and promoting events since the mid ‘90s. As an early integral part of the Hit Girl! Collective, she has forged and crafted immeasurable skills and is adept at playing to the “vibe” of any party.
&
Wasabi (Cherry - SEA) hailing from Guam, develops her sets from early influences of disco, new wave, early ‘80s, and freestyle. Her love of house forged from her time spent in the club scene in Miami in the late ‘90s. Upon her return to Seattle, she hit the decks and played at various venues honing her craft. Currently, she is a resident dj and promoter for the highly attended evening “Cherry” at The War Room. Wasabi spins eclectic genres of electro, mash-ups, hip hop, ‘80s & ‘90s, and house.
When you need to take a break, head into the Decibel Dinosaur room with the ambient and experimental sounds of:
NORDIC SOUL (Decibel/Dreaming in Stereo/K Records/Buttermilk - SEA) is the solo moniker of Decibel Festival brainchild Sean Horton (Db founder, director and curator). More that just a moniker, the name “Nordic Soul” describes Horton’s production aesthetic, which fuses the soulful sounds of Detroit’s urban landscape (Horton’s upbringing) with the ethereal textures and melodies associated with Northern Europe (Horton’s heritage). Nordic Soul’s solo releases, remixes and collaborations range from instrumental hip hop to deep techno and often pay homage to multiple genres within a single track. Horton’s vast array of influence spawns from almost 20 years as a musician (guitar, bass, keyboards) and 15 years as a DJ and avid music collector. Since Nordic Soul’s inception in 2003 he has shared the stage with a diverse selection of talent including; Bassnectar, Funkstroung, Lusine, T. Raumschmiere, Luomo, New Breed, Boom Bip, Richard Devine, Blue Scholars, Outhud, Phonecia, Electric Birds, Proem, Four Tet, Matthew Dear and Derrick May to name a few. As a performer Nordic Soul brings charisma and energy to the stage and has played an instrumental role in Seattle’s infamous Fourthcity Laptop Battles as both a performer and co-promoter. Horton also performs with the laptop synth-pop quartet “Synth Club” (featuring Reggie Watts on vocals) and the soulful house quintet “Loveslap” (featuring KJ Sawka on drums). http://www.dbfestival.com
Jerry Abstract (Decibel/Fixelplix/Shitkatapult Records – SEA) has come into his own this year with a DJ set in Portland that overshadowed Ellen Allien’s, appearances at Detroit’s Fuse-In fest, and releases for Germany's Shitkatapult Records. For that company, Abstract generates brilliant slabs of knarz-techno, which sounds like a motorboat speeding through molasses—very rigorously. When he DJs as a resident at Krakt or elsewhere, Abstract delivers radical techno and electro bangers that know no other mode than peak.
Son of Rose (SEA) is a computer synthesis-based project pursuing the evident and unlimited nature of sound by applying numerically specific frequencies to meticulously sculpted sound archives. The result is an aural structure of organic and textural leanings. Son of Rose pursues tunneled beds of sonic paper drizzled with sap and torched in turn, revealing a horizon at once unique and favored.
Kris Moon (SEA) is best known as two-time champ of the Seattle Laptop Battle. His chops on the laptop have made him a favorite among both national and international techno audiences, and has provided him opportunities in 2005, opening for Octave One and Richie Hawtin. His contributions to Seattle techno include moderating the Division techno email list, acting as main techno and electro buyer for Zion's Gate Records, and resurrecting club night Robo.Trash at the Mantra Lounge in Seattle. Kris organized the educational component of the 2005 Decibel Festival.
When you need to quench your thirst, dance back over to the Animal room and grab a drink at the bar; proceeds go to support Static Factory Media ( http://www.staticfactory.org).
This is one night when you’re going to want to…
“Resist the urge to stay home!”

Head into the Bug room to see the amazing art by:
Jerod Knapp (Visionary Painter - SEA) feels truly blessed to have discovered a solid form of sacred expressionism, throughout many mediums. His primary choice is oil on canvas. As a dedicated, self-taught artist, Jerod strives to visually capture inner visions, experiences and the u.n.i-versal force. In his natural, meditative method of panting it is very common for me to slip into a trance/channeled state of consciousness. At a very yound age, he discovered that he had the ability to ‘tap in’ – not really realizing exactly what it was he was subjecting himself to. He simply decided to go with the flow. A journey upon a path beyond the comprehension and constraints of this reality. Jerod had many memorable lessons, realizing many forces within the grand unified spectrum, both light and dark. The lesson to be learned was… Acceptance. Acceptance of everything. http://www.jerodknapp.com/
Angel Ceballos (photographer – SEA) was born in Eastern, WA but has spent most of her life in Seattle. Her passion for photography has lead to world travels and she lives each adventure through her many antique or specialized cameras. Her photography has been featured in international and American celluloid and magazines. She enjoys setting up whimsical and bizarre scenario shoots as well as just photographing the natural stunning simplicity that life has to offer. She is currently shooting for her book that will present the myriad beautiful people of Seattle. Angel is also availabe for private shooting. http://www.robotangel.com
Jenna Colby (paintings – SEA) is a self taught artist who has always been creative through different mediums, but decided to focus on painting three years ago. Originally from Ohio, Jenna has traveled and lived in both Pittsburgh and Philadelphia, but has called Seattle home since 1999. Growing up in a small town Colby was always fascinated with cities and has been influenced by her travels and the people she has met and observed. “I make it a point to take note and assign a story to the passer by, giving each moment in time purpose and creating color.” After developing and beginning to show her work, Jenna came into contact with the work of artists like Mark Ryden and Yoshimoto Nara. Thinking back, she says, “Their work really moved me. It made me nervous, giddy . . . I’m not sure if there is a word for it. But after experiencing that feeling, I decided that is what I want to do to others. I want to make other people feel that way.” http://www.soopajdelux.com/
Originals and prints will be on sale.
Performances by:

Pure Cirkus started out as a Seattle based piercing/ suspension group called P.U.R.E. (people undergoing real experiences). Over the course of 3 years the group grew larger and larger as it began to perform shows both public and private, pulling together many talented performers who strived to push the limits of the human mind and body in an ancient art form that dates back to the oldest mummy found to date until it finally evolved into what is now PURE CIRKUS. As P.U.R.E entered into its 3rd year performing all over Seattle it spawned its own fire troupe, run by Xavier Frost and Jennifer Morgensen. Soon enough it began to take on all forms of entertainers such as jugglers, clowns and other creeds of artists that simply wanted to place that they could entertain and grow as a performer. So began Pure Cirkus. The group that began as a private get together of friends to create an inspiring personal experience born out of our primordial society has transformed into Pure Cirkus. A blend of clowns, fire, suspension/piercing, dancers, acrobats, musicians and artists from all over that have come together to build what we hope will be a long lasting cirkus that will come to entertain people for generations. http://www.purecirkus.com/
Visuals by:
Seizure Labs was born out of the need for complete sensory overload, Seizure Lab burst onto the VJ scene in 2005. Combining technical wizardry, artistic creativity and a heavy dose of insanity, Seziure Lab provides audiences with a unique visual experience. Currently a collective started by a DJ (Shadowvex), a musician (Etienne), and a visual artist (Manuel), Seizure Lab utilizes cutting edge technologies to bring you the very freshest eyecandy. Custom tailored hardware, software and content for each performance ensures a deeply submersive experience. In the last year Seizure Lab has performed at/for Phoenix Fest, Magnetic, Howl, Follow Your Bliss, Future Frequencies, PsyBooty NW Release, Shivas Temple II, Shake Lasta and Lost History, as well as a special heartfelt performance for Luv Shack's GoaWake. Music is not just sound anymore thanks to Seizure Lab altering your consciousness with the language of music and images.
